Parallels

We planted two Filbert trees in our front yard several years ago. They were a gift from Tom and Trish - a couple of starters from their beautiful tree. We planted them on either side of the front yard.

A couple of years have passed and one tree is quite large - even producing nuts this year. The other tree is withering and nearly dead. This last year it really took a turn for the worse and I can't help but draw parallels between our two lives.

Tomorrow is our 8th wedding anniversary. This is the song we danced to so blissfully at our larger than expected wedding. And listening to it now rips my heart in half. I didn't think it was possible to miss someone this much.

Every time I listen to it, it transports me into your arms on our wedding day. By your side.

I remember the moment that the song started, I knew that it was perfect for the two of you. I remember that day very clearly, What a beautiful bride you were and Ryan, wow! Who knew he could look so fancy schmancy?
Clearly he was your best friend and your husband. What amazing chemistry the two of you possessed. Any time anyone would ask me about the two of you, I would often say, George and I are trying to model our marriage after Jen and Ryan's. All the playing and teasing, the laughter, my God the laughter. There was so much all the time when you two were together.
I am so sorry that he is gone, but I know you feel him around you. I know that he is watching down on all of us. It's hard to understand why he had to go, but the only thing I can say is, the two of you had the most wonderful journey together and you will be together again some day.
I loved him like a brother and there are so many days I just hear a silly song and think WHY and go into crying mode. He made a great impact on a lot of people's lives and we are all proud of that and proud that we had the honor to know him.
I love you, I love your strength, you are one of my heros.

Jen,
Sending you all my kindest and loving thoughts now and in the days to come.
Are you going to be in the 'Ham bone this weekend? Jess Dorr and I are going to Trish's show Friday night.
